Fountain on the farm Oase

SolitaireAn oasis in the desert near the C14 road. It is at the bottom of the Gaub-pass. Although it isn't a strong stream of water flowing out of the fountain, it is nice to find such a green spot in this dry part. SesriemWe took some photos of the mountains next to the road. It is interesting to see all the different colours. There is lots of different colours, the sky, sand and rocks. This is on the C27 road south of Sossusvlei and Sesriem. As far as I remember we did not see any animals for a very long distance around where this photos were taken, due to the long drought. SesriemWe took these photos of the mountains and sand from the C27 road. As always there is a wide variety of colours that can be seen in the photo. The lonely springbok was standing on the road and in no hurry to get anywhere. Probably to conserve energy and moisture. We started to begin seeing some more plant growth from here on south. The colours of the area is more pronounced and brighter while the sun goes down. We camped at Tolou's Lodge for the night and took these and many more photos. Epupa falls

OkongwatiThe Epupa falls, a Namibia attraction, is in the Kunene River which forms the northern border between Namibia and Angola. We also found a massive baobab tree close to the waterfall. The water is brackish which can be seen from the salts accumulating on the soil around the water. This water is trapped underground under pressure and is pushed out in a fountain. The fountain works non stop day and night, year in and out. No pump needed. We could take a nice lukewarm shower to get the dust of the day off.
