Some photos of the moon landscape in the Namib desert. As can be seen there is virtually no plant growth due to almost no rainfall. This area normally looks like this, therefore it is called the moon landscape. At the time the photo was taken, there have also been a drought for the past few years. Fountain on the farm Oase

An oasis in the desert near the C14 road. It is at the bottom of the Gaub-pass. Although it isn't a strong stream of water flowing out of the fountain, it is nice to find such a green spot in this dry part. We took some photos of the mountains next to the road. It is interesting to see all the different colours. There is lots of different colours, the sky, sand and rocks. This is on the C27 road south of Sossusvlei and Sesriem. As far as I remember we did not see any animals for a very long distance around where this photos were taken, due to the long drought. We took these photos of the mountains and sand from the C27 road. As always there is a wide variety of colours that can be seen in the photo. The lonely springbok was standing on the road and in no hurry to get anywhere. Probably to conserve energy and moisture. We started to begin seeing some more plant growth from here on south. We took some Sundown photos of the area, a Namibia attraction, and the mountains as the sun was starting to go down. The colours of the area is more pronounced and brighter while the sun goes down. We camped at Tolou's Lodge for the night and took these and many more photos. This was the first part on our trip from the north, for a few hundred kilometres where there were a bit more grass.Sundown photos of the areaX

Epupa falls

The Epupa falls, a Namibia attraction, is in the Kunene River which forms the northern border between Namibia and Angola. We also found a massive baobab tree close to the waterfall. Apparently it is the biggest one in Kaokoland. The second photo is downstream of the falls, where the water have cut a deep path through the rocks.Epupa fallsX

This is some Photos near moon valley, a Namibia attraction, . The farm on which the photos was taken have lots of underground water, from the dry Swakop river. They plant vegetables here which is very interesting to see, as they are very close to the moon valley where virtually nothing is growing. The Okaukuejo water hole is something spectacular to see. These photos were taken on our way through. Previously we stayed there and it is something to see at night. Animals come to the Okaukuejo water hole, a Namibia attraction, at night as it is the only water in a big area. So you just sit there and watch all kinds wild animals come to drink some water. Natural fountain with lukewarm water

On our way out of Etosha we stopped at this Natural fountain with lukewarm water, a Namibia attraction, . The water is brackish which can be seen from the salts accumulating on the soil around the water. This water is trapped underground under pressure and is pushed out in a fountain. The fountain works non stop day and night, year in and out. No pump needed. We could take a nice lukewarm shower to get the dust of the day off. The red drum, also know as "Die rooi drom" is a land marker placed so that people know where they are. This was done way before the days of GPS. If you reach the red drum, you know at which split in the road you are. If you haven't yet been to The red drum, a Namibia attraction, , you haven't been nowhere. Driving down the pass we had to plan the route ahead as we had three 4x4's and two 2x4's. This road was rough with big boulders in, as any good 4x4 road should be. At one spot there was a deep hole in the road over which we had to drive. This could easily be used if we needed to work below one of the vehicles. The Marienfluss valley, a Namibia attraction, is a sea of grass. The whole valley is full of sand blown in from the kalahari many centuries ago. The valley is surrounded by black rock cliffs, with a flat bed of red sand in the middle. The grass fills every part of the Marienfluss, except for the road and some fairy circles. The photos were taken during a long drought in the region. As can be seen there is basically nothing growing on the mountains. In contrast with that there is lush green vineyards. The last photo shows the Seasonal houses of Aussenkehr, a Namibia attraction, . Thousands of workers comes every year to harvest the grapes.
